Muffin Man Caribbean Express in Lanham

I’ve been coming here since I was about 3-4 years old with my parents. I’m now 23 and I can say that through the remodeling, the portion changes, the signs at the register telling you “No, you can’t have, we don’t do, and don’t ask” I am officially done being a patron here. They are closed more than they’re open and when the doors are unlocked the attitude that greets you is one that makes you wish you’d never stepped inside. At one point the food was so good you could overlook a lot of their flaws, but.....sorry to tell you, the touch has been lost for about 8 years now ever since the sweet lady got replaced with the taller short haired lady. Attitude is horrible most of the time.

Worst Customer service EVER. Won’t take my order in the phone so I placed it and paid for it online . Drove 20 minutes on my lunch break to get the food she canceled my entire order , DID not notify me in any type of way and had an attitude when I asked why didn’t she call to notify me ... And my food would take 30 mins to make. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

Roti wasn't to my liking....brought a mango and a guava muffin....haven't tried them yet.

Service has gone to pits since the the muffin man has not been there! They open on time but then you still wait for 15 minutes before someone takes your order and the attitudes are very snobbish!

Sad to give this place one star because the food and muffins are bomb BUT the service is horrible. Came to eat here three times and it was randomly closed with a janky sign on the door. The most recent time I went, unfortunately the last time I’ll ever go, there was nobody working the counter. The phone was ringing continuously, we waited for over ten minutes and was told twice that the owner stepped out and would be back soon.??? Very unprofessional, very understaffed, and very disappointing. Not sure why the lady in the kitchen couldn’t take our order? Either way I won’t be going back, don’t want to get my hopes up again. Hopefully the owner can get adequate training for more staff who can take orders/ operate a POS System but this has been going on for years so that is unlikely.

I adore this spot! They provide superb food, their menu is large, The chief cook in that restaurant is an expert, I love very much eating all their food. The dishes are consistently of high qualtity, the service towards the guests is good. I visit often this restaurant and I was never discontended. I recommend it to all my friends.

At the moment you enter that place the waiters give you a pleasant feeling. Very courteous stuff, it is a friendly place to enjoy with your friends or with your date. delicious cooking, qualified chef, good price and professional service. Warmly recommended.

Great wings (“Ziggy” are the best), and an amazing array of fresh muffins from which to choose, which I take home and enjoy for the next few mornings.

I was very disappointed with my order. And normally I am very satisfied with the food there. It has always been very tasty well seasoned and I always tell other people about it. However this time something was wrong. The lady Behind the counter was not in a good mood, it appeared, and my order was much less than I expected in quality and taste. I hope that was a temporary situation and things get better because the food has been really great.

For 25 yrs we have eaten the best JAMAICAN FOOD & Muffins scrumptious baked in the DMV. Every time I purchase 5 to 7 dinners - wifey don't cook but she cornrows my HAIR in fact. FOOD prepared genuinely and tenderly for your palate❤💚⚘🔶️

Ever since the man that used to own it left this place has gone down hill. The woman(i believe his ex wife) now owns it and it is the absolute worst!! She is rude and not customer friendly at all! I have been coming here for atleast 20 years and I just can't do it anymore!!! Not to mention the quality of the food has gone down!!!!!!!!. SAD!

Food is great service is slow abrasive and brusque. I eat here once a week because the jerk pit down the street doesn't have as wide a selection and I need roti as an option. If their menu overlapped with this one more I'd give them all of my business. Also this place closes at 5 so its no good for dinner which is a huge missed opportunity. I would eat there more if I could get dinner there.Update: The service has improved but the hours haven't. The food is still the bomb.

I was very disappointed that I drove over 45 minutes to this Establishment where I have frequent for years only to get food that was NOT FRESH and my muffin looked as though someone beat me to the punch by taking their own bite out of it before me! I strongly believe my fare share of visiting THE MUFFIN MAN is over with. None of my food was fresh

There food is good but they dont wear gloves and they touch the food after touching everything else I watched the lady touch the muffins with no gloves on

Excellent customer service and good food

the food is a sure fire 5, the service is a zero. thus, i give them a 3 because you will enjoy the food. the owner needs to learn how to let her employees work and make decisions. she's too busy trying to do everything. meanwhile, what most folks think should be a 10-minute trip easily turns into 30-40 waiting for a to-go order, when you know the food is already cooked.

I had been a regular customer years ago, I hadn't been there in years. In the past, the food was decent, but I always liked their spicy ginger drinks more. As I recall, the owner/manager's attitude had always been on the rude side. Well, years later, the food isn't as good, and they didn't have my spicy ginger drink, which wasn't surprising. And the owner/manager is still very unlikeable.

Customer service needs improvement. Walked in the lady said "what can I do for you but she busy doing something else turned sideways." I decided to eat elsewhere...

The cashier is rude, but the food is usually large serving and pretty tasty. Not much of a waiting line but that probably due to the service issues. The restaurant is sizeable with lots of places to sit also probably due to the service issues. Most people due take out. They also serve some bread products . None are gluten free. Theres no nutritional information I can see. So if lectin or allergy, make sure to ask. Ok for luch if you have time for them to prepare the meal

I've always loved their food, but now you never know when they're open. They have changed their hours so frequently over the years it seems like they're closed more than they're open. And the service has always been slow.

This site is my number one site. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to visit this restaurant. Whenever I I need a superb meal, this place comes instantly to my head. superb and food and a rich menu.courteous staff, and nice vibes. In addition to that, the pay is reasonable. I praise this restaurant with pleasure.

My police friend went Here today to get me some food OMG IT WAS HORRIBLE. It wasMy cooked and he told me the lady had an attitude with him I don’t know what her problem is but this lady consistently has a bad attitude this food was never this bad years ago it wasn’t seasoned and I almost threw up this place shall go out of Bussiness already and get reported to the food and better Bussiness burea .. she isn’t doing well anymore after her Bussiness failed once and she is very unsanitary with the food and all . Just throw the whole place away

I wish I could rate this -10 stars! I ordered Brown Stewed Chicken. What I received was regular ole over cooked under seasoned baked chicken! No sauce in sight!!!! . We placed a joint order at work spent over $50 worth of food and the food was thrown in the bag. The website gave the option to order cabbage which we order but we were given bland mixed frozen vegetables. I called the restaurant thinking they gave me the wrong order but the lady on the phone confirmed it was brown stewed chicken. I'm still not sure who would consider this brown stewed chicken but okay. I asked about the cabbage and she stated she had to substitute it for mixed veggies so she wouldn't raise her prices for the cabbage I suggested maybe informing customers of the change and she hung up on me. my FIRST and LAST time eating here.

My wife and I use to patronize this establishment years ago and was very fond. Unfortunately we have been disappointed on a few occasions with the sporadic hours and with the reduction in the quality of the food. We figured that the old cooks just retired and took the recipes with them. To make matters even worse the service and vibes have just become close to unfriendly. Imagine craving rice and peas with oxtail gravy for lunch and you drive from DC to Lanham and back... reach your desk and cover the driest rice on the planet. 😡😡😡😡I phoned Muffin Man to express my disgust and got an answering machine! I’m fightin’ mad. Muffin Man you are going down hill... what happened to your good good food????!

So I have been coming to the Muffin Man in Lanham for years only because it’s the closest Caribbean place for me.... However I promise you this is the VERY LAST time I will ever come here. The manager that owns the place and or works the front has the NASTIEST disposition I have ever seen. She is short, she is rude and she offers no opinion on how the food tastes. I believe it’s a complete disservice to people who enter this business. I was over the top nice and as I waited for my food I watched how nasty she was to each and every person behind me. As for the food..I have had better. Do yourself a favor and skip this place....

Awesome food - wish they were open longer or had more locations

They’re closed more than they are open. The normal food business is open until 8 or 9. They never answer the phone, hours on the door are always wrong. The average person gets off work at 5pm. But they are closed at 5pm. Makes no since. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Had a good experience in this place with my son. The food arrived quickly and the service is just excellent. Prices are convenient.

Been coming for over 10 years. The food is good, but I always have to overcome the decision of deciding on the food vs the terrible customer service. I decided today that I will not return again. The lady that takes your orders is rude as hell.
